Aux Champs Élysées...
Salut à tous! J'espère que tout va bien. Well, I've just returned from my beautiful 5 day holiday à Paris so here is a nice re-cap:
The Royal Throne
The Royal Chapel, looking mysterious...
The Famous Gallerie des Glaces (Hall of Mirrors)
The 'public' bedchamber, where every night and every morning people came to watch the king get undressed, go to sleep, wake up and get dressed although once everyone was gone the king actually went back into his 'private' bedchamber where he actually slept...The Queen's 'public' bedchamber.
The Royal Gardens, apparently it takes an hour to walk from the château to the exact opposite side of the gardens, we decided not to test it out.The Louis Vuiton Building aux Champs Elysées, as usual there was a big queue to get inside as they only allow a certain amount of people in at one time.
l'Arc de Triomphe Street art from Mr. Invader himself.
NUTELLA GIANT
The first ever Metro!
No explanation needed, I was there! The roof de l'Opera Garnier
La Source - costumes by Cristian La Crox, toute à fait incroyableIts official guys, Canberra, Australie is 16,920km in this direction from the top of Le Tour Eiffel
The very top of Le Tour with Jeanne and Clémence (my host mum's daughters). Unfortunately they had to put a grate up because it's so amazingly high! The huge elevators with big windows were definitely the scariest part.Saturday, 1 October 2011
C'est Un Mois!
Bonjour tout le monde! I hope that all is going well! Thanks for the vlog Kates it definitely gave me some laughing material for awhile (: I am very sorry but you will have to keep on waiting for a vlog from France, there are a few certain things I need to make it just that awesomely special. So, for now we have just some beautiful of pictures of mainly me!
My first ever macaron, absolutely the most amazing thing I have ever had in my whole life, I am very sorry but I really can't describe them, you will have to eat one yourself. Its definitely better to live in ignorance than know what they are like and not have tried one.
This my friends, is TWO absolutely beautiful pizzas that Alice - my host mother - made from scratch for dinner one night. I never knew that mushrooms, ham and cheese could ever be so good... Before eating this pizza, Alice asked my if I knew what champingons (mushrooms) were, of course I said yes and she was very surprised! Apparently many people in France think that chapingons are a French speciality.
Alice with one of the most amazing cakes I've ever had, it was a vanilla and chocolate marble cake and sooo delicious. And what's even more exciting is that there were leftovers so Alice said I could have the cake for breakfast... Oh yeah, that's how we roll in France.
This is my friend Capucine and I enjoying being able to look at the sun. Notice the difference in clothing perhaps...
Last Jeudi I went to see a comedy improvisation show and funnily enough they had some beautiful transvestites there to helps with our meals and tickets.
I must say the French are a little crazy... The man behind one of the 'ladies' is my host dad and he was introducing the act as he organised the show.
This, my friends is a picture I took of the sunrise as I walked to the bus stop the other morning. Pretty self-explanatory I think.
Me and my whole fish we had for lunch on Vendredi you may also notice the gourmet salad, dessert pastry, bread roll and pomme that is pretty normal around here at lunch times.
Marianna and I .... chilling
I don't think even my friends understood what was happening that day...
Tha girlz
Yes, there are slides in France woo!
Marianna's graceful leap
My Undentified Flying Object leap
Hope you love my cool photos! I know I do... Anyway, had my first ballet class yesterday so so happy now, its very cool hearing all the words we use in Darwin being used just as normal instructions. I was a little disappointed because it wasn't as professional as I was expecting I was actually one of the better people of the class :o ! After cours de Dance Classique I had my first French sleepover at Marianna's house yes, I know, woo! I also had 4 macarons in one sitting... One of the most memorable times of my life I would say.
I'll be going off to go shopping in Rodez again today (YES) and then going to another comedy show. Very excited because I think its a mime, which means no words.

Semaine 3
All the Australians finally together in Hong Kong. The flight to Paris was probably one of the worst times of my life, I think I went about 60+ hours without a bed, and the food on the planes made most of us feel sick for quite a while. But I was with 5 of these guys from Sydney - Hong Kong - Paris and made very good friends, it was such a cool experience - in hindsight...
And there were no adults, it was all up to us to get where we needed to go, that is probably why me and the 5 spent 2 hours at the wrong gate in Hong Kong.
My beautiful Australians at Le Tour Eiffel.
Even the Parisienne homeless do it in style.
I'm pretty sure everyone who hadn't been to the Eiffel Tower was amazed that there is this like huge Olympic swimming pool-type fountain out the front of the Eiffel Tower and everyone just goes and swims in it. And it was VERY hot!
This is half of all the kids who have come to France for exchange this year, and we were all in one hotel together! It was amazingly hectic and amazingly awesome sitting with someone from a different country each meal and learning so many new things. Meeting so many hot Europeans...
After riding on a fast train for 4 hours with the 7 other kids who are in Midi-Pyrénées for exchange, I had my first chance to 'faire la baise'. Whenever you meet someone new or you see an acquaintance for the first time that day you kiss them 3 times on the cheek. I'm still trying to get used it and there is actually quite a lot of different situations where people do different amounts of kisses or don't kiss at all or hug or hug and kiss and I have had quite a few awkward kiss moments but everyone expects it from me so its not too bad.
My first 'je ne comprends pas' moment
With Jeanne, my host sister and the very cool Lilian (my host dad) or Wally (his stage name) in Toulouse.
Feeding Papie and Mamie's horses before the most awesomest meal in my life at their house.
Swimming at a big heated pool in Rodez with Jeanne and her friend.
PANINI NUTELLA - Bloody amazing, so so so just awesomely good. Baguette, nutella, sandwich toaster, amazement.
Haha your fish looks quite impressive Kate... and its nice to hear that you made sure your camp experience was fun filled and full of life lessons.
These last few weeks have been amazing, I can actually understand about 50% of what is being said. I do have to start cleaning the bathroom now but that's not too bad. The food so good and I'm never hungry and oh my, just so good! Went for a run through the French countryside the other day - bloody awesome, every morning I try to take a picture of the sun rise when I am walking to the bus but it's always too cold to take my hands out of my pockets.
Oh my god, why did you remind me of the awesomosity of nutella and tiny teddies? I tentatively asked Alice to buy nutella yesterday hoping that I will be able to not eat the whole thing with some bread one day, she's going to buy it tomorrow, we shall see...
I'm gaining a bit of popularity at school these days , most people don't know that I'm Australia until I start talking because I blend in so well (YES) but as soon as people find out I'm from Australia they want to be friend which is awesome.
It's starting to get very cold and I have started to stand out a bit because I've been wearing sweaters and big jackets and scarves while everyone else is walking around in T-shirts and 3/4 pants...
I'll try take more photos this week of the school and stuff for next week C:
This post is injected with all the beautiful chocolatey gooeyness of a good Panini Nutella
